Frontline health workers in Zamfara State have started to receive the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines.
The Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau, Doctor Bello Mohammed, was the first health worker to receive the first jab of the vaccine in the state.
The Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau, Doctor Bello Mohammed after receiving the jab of the Oxford Astrazeneca Covid-19 vaccine, thanked the Federal government for making the vaccines available.
He said the vaccine is safe, and added that Nigerians should not entertain fear over their first doses, as his, was without any negative reactions.
The Executive Secretary of the Zamfara State Primary Healthcare Development Board, Ismail Tukur said, the board has 126 teams that will administer Astrazeneca Covid-19 vaccines to residents of the state.
He said they began with the health workers because they are the most vulnerable, being the first port of contact with the victims of covid-19 disease.

Other health workers who received the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines were the Chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association in Zamfara State, Dr. Mannir Bature.
He described the commencement of the administration of the Covid-19 vaccine, beginning with health workers, as confidence-building, and to correct the misinformation about the negative effects of the vaccine.
Doctor Bature wants the government to support the health workers with logistics, hazard allowances and other incentives, to boost the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, and ensure it is stamped out of Nigeria.
Dr Musa Yakubu and Sunday Musa after receiving their doses of the Oxford Astrazeneca Covid-19 vaccines, believed that the vaccine does not have negative effects, contrary to the controversy that the Astrazeneca Covid-19 vaccine is not safe.
It could be recalled that a few days ago, Zamfara State Governor Bello Mohammed took his first jab, followed by the speaker of the State Assembly, Nasiru Muazu, to set example for other people to follow.
