Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu has announced an increment of workers salaries by N10,000 as well as introduction of mass transportation system for inter-city travels for the citizens at subsidised rates for six months.
The Governor also reduced the numbers of working days from five to three days a week, to reduce the burden of workers from lower grade levels.
Speaking with journalists in Calabar as part of activities to mark his 100 days in office, Governor Otu, said his administration is not ignorant of the hardship the citizens are passing through occasioned by the fuel subsidy removal, hence the roll out of the multiple palliative.

He called on the people of Cross River State to be patient with his administration, saying the “People First” agenda is on course.
Governor Otu also said his administration will continue with the free tuition in all government-owned primary and secondary schools, in addition to the payment of examination fees for SSCE for indigenes of the State.
The meeting was the first enlarged interaction between the Governor and the media after Otu was sworn-in on May 29, 2023.
