Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has expressed his administration’s commitment towards equitable distribution of palliatives to cushion the effect of Fuel subsidy removal by the Federal Government.
Governor Mohammed gave the assurance when he held a meeting with relevant stakeholders at Bauchi State Government House.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, the governor said the development has prompted the allocation of 5 billion Naira to all the 36 states of the federation by the Federal Government, as part of measures to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy on the people.
He said part of their discussion with the key players is to come out with a template on how to ensure equitable and fair distribution of the palliatives across the State.

The governor further mentioned some of the areas and people that will benefit from the palliatives to include part payment of outstanding gratuity to civil servants, transportation, food items, and cash transfers, among others.
Members of the committee chaired by Bauchi State Deputy Governor, Auwal Jatau are drawn from the traditional institution, labour organisations, and civil society groups, among others.
The committee is expected to complete its assignment within two weeks, to pave the way for the commencement of the distribution exercise.
