The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and the Students’ Union Government of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, have strongly condemned the alleged attempt by the Niger State Government to forcefully take over the Bosso Campus land.

Zonal Coordinator of NANS, Zone C (North Central), Hussaini Jamilu and the SUG President of the institution, Ezekiel Adaidu, who made this known to Journalists in Minna, appealed to President Bola Tinubu to call the Niger State Governor to order, or they will occupy the State and take over the major highways in Minna.
The Students, while describing the State government’s threat letter to FUT Minna, dated December 1, 2025, to vacate the Bosso campus premises as embarrassing, unfortunate, and disgraceful, however, said the Union will mobilise against any attempts to confiscate the land, citing a judgment delivered in Lagos as a case study.
They further stressed that the education of Nigerian students must not be politicised or jeopardised; hence, FUT Minna remains a federal institution established for national development, and its assets must be protected in the interest of students and the nation at large.
Governor Umar Bago, in a recent interview, claimed that the institution has remained fallow for about 15 years with nobody on campus, giving that as one of the reasons to take back the land for adequate utilisation.
Meanwhile, a visit by ait.com to the Bosso campus showed its the environment is quite busy of Nirmal academic activities, with students both seen in the hostels and at different lecture theatres attending lectures.
It could be recalled that the Niger State Government first issued a letter dated October the 3rd, 2025, claiming that the land was on lease and that the lease term had expired. Subsequently, another correspondence was reportedly sent on November the 27th, 2025, through the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, reiterating the position and urging the University management to vacate the premises, a correspondence the Vice Chancellor, Professor Faruk Kuta, had since responded to in a detailed manner.
