The identity of the leader of the coup plotters who overthrew Gabon President, Ali Bongo is now known.
He is General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, cousin of the ousted leader and head of the Presidential Guard.
Not much is known about him other than he was also head of Presidential Guard to the elder Bongo, and that he had studied at the Moroccan Military.

He has named the junta he will be heading as the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions.
Oligui is also known to be a multi-billionaire, and alleged to be involved in an embezzlement affair and having links with the drug circles of the South American-Ivorian cartels.
