Top military commander, Brigadier-General Dzarma Zirkushu and seven other soldiers who were ambushed and killed by Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province terrorists in Askira Uba, Borno State on November 13, have been buried at the 23 Armoured Brigade Cemetery, Yola in Adamawa State, North-East Nigeria.
President Muhammadu Buhari, represented by Secretary to Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, said the county is in deep mourning. He prayed that God comforts the bereaved family and the entire country.


The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Faruk Yahaya called for prayers for the deceased, their families and the Nigerian Army for victory over the terrorists.

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri on his part, called for better welfare for the families of fallen hereos. To match his words with action, Fintiri donated a total sum of N27 million to the families of late Dzarma Zirkushu and the seven other fallen heroes.
Brigadier-General Zirkushu, Major Luka Barde, Lieutenant Usma Usma, Private Salim Muhammad, Private Simon Solomon, Private Abubakar Yusuf and Lance Corporal Oladeji Victor, Danyaro Umaru were ambushed and killed by ISWAP fighters in Askira Uba, Borno State while providing reinforcement in an offensive against the terrorists.
