The Nigerian Army, says the citizens have invested so much and placed a high premium on both the military and paramilitary agencies, that they cannot afford to fail them, at a time the country is facing daunting security challenges.

The General Officer Commanding, GOC One Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Usman Mohammed, stated this at an inter-agency workshop in Kaduna.

The workshop is part of activities to mark the 2020 exercise ‘Crocodile Smile Six’ in the one division of the Nigerian Army area of responsibility.

Major General Mohammed said given the current security situation in the country, no single agency can tackle it alone, without collaboration.

The exercise according to the GOC 1 Division Nigerian Army, has evolved into an effective tool of confronting the increasing level of criminality and violence, that have characterized the concluding part of each year, hence the need to re-examine strategies in tackling them.

While stressing on the need for team work in tackling security challenges, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, identified the politicisation of security issues, and inter-agency rivalry, as factors militating against the success, in the fight against criminality.

He also wants the media to be a critical component, in the fight.

The theme of the workshop is harnessing the potentials of inter-agency collaboration and its geared towards deliberating and redefining the strategy of closing the gaps in military operations, that can create a safe environment for Nigerians.
