The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander, Sector 2 Joint Task Force, North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Koughna, has visited the scene where five soldiers and one police officer were ambushed and killed in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The visit was led by the Commander, 1 Brigade, Brigadier General M. Jimoh.
In a statement issued by the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 1 Brigade Gusau, Captain Yusuf Mohammed, the visit was aimed at obtaining first-hand situational awareness, assessing troop deployment, and evaluating ongoing counter-threat measures in the area.
According to the statement, the GOC interacted with troops at the location to boost morale and reinforce operational readiness.

While addressing officers and soldiers at the garrison parade ground, Major General Koughna charged the troops to maintain heightened vigilance, operational discipline, and a rapid response posture to effectively safeguard lives and property within their areas of responsibility.
He emphasized the importance of intelligence-driven operations and timely responses to emerging security threats.
