GOLDEN GLOBES AWARDS 2025: Films – Shogun, Emilia Perez and The Brutality Win Big At 82nd Edition

The 82nd annual Golden Globes Awards celebrating excellence in film and American television productions was held on Sunday January 5th 2025 at the Beverly Hilton, Beverly Hills, California United States.

40 year old American standup comedian actress and TV personality Nikki Glaser, for the first time, hosted the awards.

Leading the awards pack in the film category is the crime musical drama “Emilia Perez” with four wins in the “Best Film Musical/Comedy”, “Supporting Female Actor”, “Original Song” and “Foreign Language Film” of the 10 categories the film was nominated in.

In the TV category, the film “Shogun”, also won four awards; “Best TV Series Drama”, “Actress in a Drama TV Series”: Anna Sawai, “Actor in a Drama TV Series”: Hiroyuki Sanada, “Male Actor in a Supporting Role on TV”: Tadanobu Asano.

“The Brutalist” directed by Brady Corbet won in the Director of a Motion Picture category while the “Best Animated Feature Film” went to the movie “Flow”.

In the Actress in a Musical/Comedy Motion Picture category, Demi Moore won for the film “The Substance” while the “Actor in a Mini Series/ Motion Picture for TV went to Colin Farrell for the film “The Penguin”.

In the special recognition award category, the Carol Burnett award went to Ted Danson while the Cecil De Mille award went to Viola Davis.

The first Golden Globes awards was
held 80 years ago on January 20, 1944.
