GOMBE

Gombe state government through the Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation has begun the training of one hundred youths and women in processing food items for babies and young children.

The state commissioner in the ministry Aisha Maigari says the training exercise is to teach these women on how to utilize local food items to improve the nutrition of their children.
The state commissioner disclosed this during the unveiling of some food items for children and the training of women in the production of local food items

This approach by the Gombe state government using science in tackling malnutrition in children is gaining practical steps as the state government through its ministry of science technology and innovation has produced complimentary food items in addressing the nutritional needs of babies and children

The Hon commissioner says aside from the production of the complimentary food items, the women will also be trained on how to process local varieties of crops for a balanced diet for children

Advocates in child nutrition laud the state government initiative even as beneficiaries express thanks to the state government for the training

Indeed with this new initiative, the state government hopes, the growing issues of malnutrition would be solved and enable the hunger for locally made items.
