Gombe state government has assured that it is committed to the care and condition of women and children in the state as it encourages more programs aimed at reducing maternal, infant and child mortality through routine primary healthcare services.
Thus, the state ministry of health has launched the first round of Maternal Newborn Child Health Week and seasonal malaria chemoprevention program where children between three to fifty-nine months would receive vaccinations, free anti-malarial drugs while pregnant women receive lifesaving interventions
A chance to live a healthy life, and opportunity to prevent tropical diseases for mothers and children, were exhibited during the launch of a week-long program by the state government where various primary health care centers would be centers of free health care services to mothers and children
The activities had the full support of state government, its partners and the traditional community
Even the short drama show illustrated the importance of this program given its effect on women and children
Indeed the challenge for healthy future remains the task for the state government and its partners as the race towards prevention and treatment continues
