The Nigeria Labour Union, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, in Gombe State have said they will join other state counterparts in the national strike scheduled for Monday, September 28, 2020.
The trade unions disclosed this in a joint press conference where they directed their members in the state civil service and other affiliates to ensure they adhere to the strike.
The statement said that punitive measures would be carried out on any association affiliated to the unions if they fail to carry out the strike.
Ahead of the nationwide action by the labour unions in the country, activities by the state chapters are gathering momentum as labour unions in Gombe state said they won’t be left out in the fight against the current hardship in the country.
Though the labour unions are grateful to the state government for its consistency in the payment of salaries, they called on the state authorities to commence the payment of the 30, 000 naira minimum wage that was stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
