The Gombe state government says it has been able to control the transmission of the HIV virus with the aggressive campaign of testing and treatment of people living with the virus.
According to the state commissioner for health Habu Dahiru, two million women and individuals tested for the virus, ninety five percent of these individuals have undergone treatment for the virus as the same number of these individuals have experienced suppression of the virus.
The state government says the achievement was due to the collaboration and diligence of certain non-governmental agencies like center for integrated health programmes.
Before now, the virus thrived in the state as cases remain undocumented with increased cases of transmission as well as poor enlightenment.
The collaboration between the state government and agencies started the symbiotic relationship in providing essential care for the people living with HIV/AIDS
Following the relationship, r
the dividends has been massive with reduction in the prevalence rate of the virus as well as a drop in maternal to baby transmission of the virus
Children living with the virus are the biggest beneficiaries from the achievements of the state government and agencies.
