Governor Ademola Adeleke says his 18-month old government has paid over 12 billion naira to pensioners in Osun state, an amount he noted surpassed the 11billion naira paid by two previous administrations in the last 12 years.
The governor disclosed this while presenting bond certificates of four billion naira to retirees in Osogbo, the state capital.
This is another tranche of pension payment to the senior citizens who have served and contributed to the development of Osun state.
The 4b Naira for 247 retirees is spread between state retirees who got Over 1.5 billion naira and local government retirees who got 2.4 billion naira.
In about 18months of his administration, governor Adeleke said he has paid pension of 12.7 billion naira which he emphasized has surpassed payment of 11.1 billion naira paid by two previous administrations.
The head of service, Ayanleye Aina and the representative of the retirees said governor Adeleke is giving maximum priority to the welfare of civil servants and retirees even as they declare their maximum support for his administration.
Since he assumed office in November 2022 as the 6th executive governor of Osun state, governor Adeleke has increased allocations for payment of pensions and gratuity by 100 percent.
