Osun State Governor Sen. Ademola Adeleke has tasked the new Akire of Ikire, Oba Olanrewaju Tajudeen Akinola, Akintula the First, to unite his people and ensure that his reign brings meaningful development to the town.
The governor gave the charge while presenting the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment to the new monarch at the Akire Palace in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State.
Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to due process, rule of law and respect for traditional institutions, noting that the emergence of the new monarch followed established legal agreements and court resolutions.
He urged the new king to see himself as a father to all, promote unity among the people, and work towards the growth and development of Ikire and Osun State at large.
Some prominent sons and daughters of the town, including the Senate Minority Leader, Lere Oyewumi pledged their support for the monarch, expressing confidence in his capacity to lead the town to greater heights.
Oba Olanrewaju Tajudeen Akinola is the 21st Akire of Ikire, and his ascension to the throne has brought to an end decades of legal disputes over the revered stool.
