Cross River State Governor, Professor Ben Ayade has directed that over two thousand five hundred delisted workers be reabsorbed into the civil service.

Governor Ayade while addressing the affected workers at the U.J. Esuene Stadium Calabar, said even though they came into the state civil service through the back door, public outcry has made him to have a change of mind and engage them as fresh employees of the state.

Ayade who solicited the support of workers, said his administration has taken workers welfare important by paying them regularly and listening to their needs despite the financial challenges facing the state.

While commending the Governor for giving them a listening ear, One of the reabsorbed workers, Anthonia Obi said she was sure of passing the screening exercise because all her documents are genuine, a development the Chairman of NLC in Cross River State, Ben Ukpebi applauded.

Over two thousand five hundred workers whom the government said, came into the state work force illegally were removed from the pay roll since September 2019 after an audit exercise.
