Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammad has condemned his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom over his recent comments on the Farmers/Headers clashes in Nigeria; describing it as uncalled for.
Governor Mohammed stated this at an award presentation by members of the State’s Correspondents’ Chapel where he was conferred with the Best Media Friendly Governor In the country.
The emergence of the Farmers/Headers clashes in parts of the country is one of the burning issues affecting the peace and unity of the nation with leaders at various levels expressing their opinions on how to address the problem.
Governor Mohammed attributed the worsening of Fulani herdsmen crises to the previous actions taken by the Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom; stressing that every citizen has the right to live in any part of the country and that Nigeria does not belong to a particular group.
According to the Governor, Bauchi State is sustaining peace and harmonious relationship with the diverse ethnoreligious groups residing in the state, hence the need for others to join the suit, for the sustenance of peace across the country.
While commending Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong for adopting the best strategy in handling the farmers/herders’ clashes in Jos, Mohammed urged other leaders to emulate his exemplary leadership style.
