Gov. Diri, rewards Olympics silver medalist, Oborududu, AITEO Cup winners

The Bayelsa state government has demonstrated its resolve, to recognize hard work, diligence and self-determination.

State Governor Douye Diri, on Monday, announced cash rewards to the Bayelsa-born Tokyo Olympic silver medallist, Blessing Oborududu, and the winners of the 2021 AITEO Cup, Bayelsa United, and the Bayelsa Queens.

At the official reception in honour of the victorious Bayelsa sportsmen and women in the Government House, Yenagoa, the Governor also announced cash rewards for coaches, technical advisers, and the board chairmen of the male and female football clubs.

He also directed the immediate release of two Coaster buses to the football teams.

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Daniel Igali, and the athletes later expressed their profound gratitude to the Governor, for taking sports in Bayelsa to a new height.
