Gov. Diri Signs Bayelsa State 2024 Appropriation Bill Into Law

The Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri has signed the state’s 2024 Appropriation bill of N489 billion into law as passed by the State House of Assembly.

The fiscal law tagged, “Budget of Sustenance and Shared Prosperity”, had the Governor append his signature on Thursday.

Governor Diri affirmed that his administration was committed to ensuring the benefits of the budget were felt by all.

The Bayelsa State Governor, had on November 29th, 2023 presented the Appropriation bill of N480 billion to the State House of Assembly for consideration and passage.

After going through legislative scrutiny on the floor of the House, the bill was returned for the Governor’s assent with an addition of N8 billion, making a total of 489 billion Naira as the 2024 approved budget.

Speaker of the House of Assembly, Abraham Ingobere gave reasons for the upward review of the original estimated presented by the Governor before the lawmakers.

Speaking shortly after assenting to the document, Governor Douye Diri
explained that the budget was centred on provisions for more people-oriented programmes and projects

AIT.live reports that with the Bayelsa 2024 Appropriation now a legal document just a few days into a new fiscal year, the people of Bayelsa State expect that the incoming year will be better and prosperous.
