Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to place premium on the judiciary in view of the significant role it plays in every democracy.
Diri promised that his administration will not in any way compromise the neutrality and independence of the judiciary which he said is the last hope of the common man.
Governor Diri stated this when he swore-in four Judges of the State High Court at the Executive Council Chamber in Government House in Yenagoa.
The four judges who were selected based on the recommendations of the National Judicial Council (NJC) in line with the Constitution took their Oaths of Office and Allegiance one after the other.
Congratulating the new judicial officers on their appointment and elevation, the Governor urged them to serve the people with infallible honour and loyalty.
He expressed hope the new year will see the appointment of more judges from the State.
Recalling the invasion of the Abuja resident of Supreme Court Judge, Justice Mary Odili, Diri called on authorities concerned to expedite action on the matter and bring those culpable to book.
The newly sworn-in judges included a former Registrar of the State High Court, Justice, James Lookie, a Law Lecturer at the Niger Delta University, Justice, Simon Amaduobogha, and Legal practitioners, Justice, Christine Enegesi and Justice, Patience Zuofa-Diri.
