About two weeks after dissolving his cabinet, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has begun rebuilding his administration with the appointment of a new Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Chief of Staff.
The development is coming amid renewed reconciliation efforts between the Governor and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Many political observers have described the latest development as a decisive step toward stabilising governance in Rivers State, with Governor Siminalayi Fubara appointing Dr. Dagogo Wokoma as Secretary to the State Government and Sunny Ewule as Chief of Staff, Government House – an action that signals a turning point in the State’s political trajectory.
At a ceremony held inside the Executive Council Chamber of Government House, Port Harcourt, in which Governor Fubara presided over the swearing-in of the new appointees, charging them to bring experience, loyalty, and renewed vigour to the business of governance.
Political analysts say the reconstitution of the Governor’s inner cabinet marks the first concrete step in rebuilding administrative machinery following months of political tension in the state.
The last couple of weeks have witnessed
a willingness by parties involved in the crisis to embrace dialogue and de-escalate tensions, a move observers note, is crucial for peace, stability, and continued development in Rivers State.
The Governor strongly warns that he will not tolerate any act that will bring embarrassment to the state.
In another development, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has said his administration will, in the coming days, attend to the matter of Permanent Secretaries, especially all those who are due for retirement.
With the appointments now in effect, attention turns to the possibility of further nominations to the State Executive Council, as the Governor continues consultations across political divides.
