The Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has inaugurated Uloma Nwogu as the new Council Chairman for Obingwa Local Government Area.
UNwogu, a former Deputy Chairman of the council takes over from her embattled boss, Ibe Nwoke.
Nwoke was purportedly impeached by councillors of the legislative arm of the council, an action that is now in court.
Governor Ikpeazu who just returned from an oversea vacation told the gathering at the swearing-in ceremony in Umuahia that the State government was in receipt of a letter dated 23rd May 2022 written by the former Chairman entitled: Resignation of my party membership.
The Governor said in consonance with the laws guiding the Abia State Local Government system, the consequence is that Nwoke has breached some provisions of the State laws and therefore lost the seat.
It will be recalled that the former Obingwa LGA Chairman Nwoke who has already joined one of the opposition political parties in the State was allegedly impeached by the legislative council.
