Oyo state Governor Seyi Makinde has called on the newly elected Local government Chairmen in the state to uphold and sustain the tenets of democracy at the grassroots.
The Governor made the call at the inauguration of the chairmen and their vice at an event which held at the house of chiefs, Agodi Ibadan on Friday.
The newly elected Chairmen and their vice from across the 33 Local government areas converged at the house of Chiefs to take oath of office.
Speaking shortly after the oath administration on the chairmen and their vice by Oyo state Chief Judge, Justice Iyabo Yerima, Governor Seyi Makinde represented by his Deputy, Bayo Lawal charged the newly Local Government Chairmen to prioritize the development at the
grassroots, noting that his administration will not give room for excuses.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Local government and chieftaincy matters, Olusegun Olayiwola urged the new chairmen to work for the the overall good of residents in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the 33 chairmen and their vice, Akeem Olatunji said all elected officials have resolved to impact the grassroots positively through robust policies.
Oyo state residents had gone to the poll to elect new local government chairmen with the PDP winning all the 33 chairmanship positions.
