Following the unfortunate explosion that occurred at Bodija area of Ibadan, Oyo state, the Governor, Seyi Makinde has signed executive order 001 2024 on the safe handling and storage of harmful substances within the state.
The Governor signed the law on Wednesday at the conference room of his Agodi office in Ibadan.
Immediately after signing the executive order Governor Seyi Makinde took a tour of the site of the explosion to assess the level of work done by various agencies so far.

Speaking with journalists, the Governor said individuals or companies operating within Oyo State, in possession of harmful articles or substances of any kind that can be detonated by pressure, irrespective of quantity or purpose, or hazard characteristics, are mandated to immediately notify the Special Adviser to the Governor of Oyo State on Security of such possession.
Governor Makinde emphasized that anybody caught not following the order, shall face the wrath of the law.
On the integrity test carried out on about 400 hundred houses within the affected area, a structural engineer said some houses that failed the integrity test
will be totally demolished while some would be rehabilitated.
