Gov. Masari sets 2023 retirement date, distributes gifts to 200 physically challenged

About 200 Persons Living with Disabilities, across the 34 Local Government Areas of Katsina State, have benefitted from the mechanized wheelchairs, distributed by the Governor Aminu Masari Empowerment Foundation.

The Governor who restated his administration’s commitment, towards alleviating the plights of the persons said that the gesture was part of his retirement plans from politics, as the 2023 elections draw closer.

He said that as the journey to the 2023 general elections get closer, it is part of his plans to make his retirement from public office memorable, the reason he chooses to make the journey simple and humble, by identifying with the needs and aspirations of the youths and the less privileged in the society.

The Chairman, Board of Trustees of the foundation, Kabir Mashi, said that the foundation was out to achieve four major objectives, which will have long-term effects on the youths and the less privileged in the state.

These he said include, the provision of positive engagement opportunities for the youths, assistance to the less privileged in the society, medical outreach to those in need, and offering mentorship for youths, to realize their full potentials.

One of the beneficiaries, 33-year-old Idris Lawal, from the Jibya Local Government Area, speaking on behalf of others, thanked the governor for making movement easier for them and advised his colleagues not to sell the wheelchairs.

The foundation’s program is also expected to work with a modality, for the enhancement of the Tsangaya schools, towards helping the operators of the system, to develop a curriculum, for the enhancement of the scheme.
