Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has pledged to make public schools in the State the first choice for parents.

The Governor said this during the commissioning of the administrative building of the Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and the commencement of the distribution of educational materials to schools and pupils.

The event took place at the SUBEB headquarters in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

Basic education in Plateau State has in recent years experienced declining fortunes, resulting in reduced enrollment in public primary schools.

Upon assumption of office, the Governor Caleb Mutfwang administration made the revitalization of the education sector, a top priority.

Therefore, the commissioning of the new administrative building and the distribution of learning materials are seen as part of ongoing efforts to reposition the education sector and restore confidence in public schools.

The Executive Secretary of the Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board, Sunday Amuna, gave a breakdown of some of the major interventions undertaken to improve learning conditions in public schools across the state.

The education commissioner, Kachallom Gang, said the government is promoting extracurricular activities, including sports, as part of efforts to ensure the holistic development of pupils and students.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang presented medals to primary school pupils who distinguished themselves in various sporting competitions within and outside the country.
