Legionnaires, the Military, Police and other security formations converged on the Unity Square, Abakaliki for the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day events.

The inspection of the Guards of Honour by Governor Francis Nwifuru heralded the activities of the day, as he later signed the register and laid a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier at the cenotaph.

Some members of the Legion as well as the wives of some deceased soldiers, Bethel Amuche Ekuma and Comfort Onyeukwu spoke on the significance of the annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

Bethel Amuche Ekuma is still traumatized by the death of her husband in active service, wants urgent government interventions in the area of employment and other necessary supports for her young family.

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, underscored the importance of paying respect to the country’s fallen heroes, who sacrificed their lives in protecting fellow citizens and properties.
