Gov. Oborevwori Presents N714.4 Billion To Delta Assembly

Delta state Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori on Wednesday presented the 2024 Appropriation Bill of #714. 4 billion to the state House Assembly for consideration.

Governor Oborevwori at the presentation of the budget christened “Budget of Hope and Optimism” made up of recurrent expenditure of #316. 6 billion and capital expenditure of #397.9 billion gave roads the chunk of the budget proposal followed by education.

The capital expenditure of the budget Appropriation Bill constituted 56 percent of the budget 44 percent represented Recurrent expenditure. The allocations governor Oborevwori said were made to put the economy on the path of sustainable growth, boost investment and productivity.

According to the governor, the personnel cost of #150 billion provided in the budget was in anticipation of domestication of the Federal government likely salary increase sometime in 2024 while the overhead cost he said was for inflationary trend in the country.

The governor in his words said the budget which will further enhance the ease of doing business and provide ample opportunities for the average Deltan to participate in the economic growth of the state will also see to the construction of more critical road infrastructure as his administration is irrevocably committed to advancing urban-rural integration.

Speaker of the state House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor described the budget presentation as historic being the first budget being presented by the governor who was the immediate past Speaker of the House

The Speaker pleaded with all Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government to cooperate with the Committees of the House during the Budget Defence sessions for quicker passage.
