Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has presented the 2026 Appropriation Bill of N939,850,000 to members of the State House of Assembly for legislative approval.
The 2026 budget estimate tagged “Budget of Hope and Growth,” is designed to consolidate on the foundations laid in 2025.
The proposed fiscal estimate, allocates ₦637 billion to Capital Expenditure, representing 68%, while ₦302 billion is earmarked for Recurrent Expenditure, accounting for 32%.
The Governor who arrived at the State House of Assembly Complex at about 10:45 a.m.said since assuming office a year ago, the 2026 budget estimate presentation marks a remarkable and significant function he is performing for the second time before the lawmakers.
He commended the 24-member legislature for its cooperation and support throughout the outgoing year, noting that such synergy contributed significantly to the successes recorded in 2025.
Before formally presenting the ₦939.85 billion budget estimate tagged budget, Governor Okpebholo provided a detailed breakdown of allocations to both Capital and Recurrent expenditures.

He highlighted key achievements recorded in the outgoing year, including ongoing road projects, improvements in schools and health infrastructure, and intensified efforts to combat cultism and other violent crimes across the State.
Governor Okpebholo also outlined sectoral allocations covering the economic, social, administrative, justice, and regional development sectors, as well as support for Local Governments.
The Governor assured residents that his administration would not impose unnecessary financial burdens on citizens, but would instead strengthen systems and block revenue leakages.
Funding for the 2026 Budget according to the proposal, will be sourced from Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), Capital Receipts and Grants, Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), and other available revenue windows.
When signed into law, the over ₦900 billion 2026 Appropriation is expected to drive the Governor’s practical governance style as encapsulated in his SHINE Agenda.
