Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on Tuesday, presented the 2025 Appropriation bill of N605 Billion to the State House of Assembly for consideration.

The Governor, while unveiling the budget estimates titled: “Budget of Renewed Hope for a Rising Edo”, stated that the fiscal proposal would support his five-point Agenda for the State, which focuses on security, infrastructure development, healthcare, agriculture, and education.

The 2025 Budget presentation event is the first visit of Governor Okpebholo to the State House of Assembly Complex in Benin City since taking office, about 29 days ago.

Before presenting the 2025 actual budget figures, the Governor had provided a breakdown of the budget estimates.

In the proposed Bill, Capital projects have been allocated the largest share, accounting for 63% of the total budget, which amounts to ₦381 billion, while the Recurrent expenditure will receive 37%, with ₦223 billion earmarked for it.

Governor Okpebholo emphasized that the proposed fiscal bill is the result of extensive consultations aimed at ensuring accountability and transparency in governance and that it will support responsive service delivery to the people of Edo State.

The Edo State Governor further stated that the budget will focus on connecting communities through the construction of motorable roads, thereby fostering rapid economic growth.

The 2025 fiscal year budget, totaling ₦605 billion, represents a 25% increase over the 2024 budget.
