After months of speculations and permutations, the picture of who will likely succeed Gov. Udom Emmanuel as Governor of Akwa Ibom State in 2023 has become clearer with the pendulum swinging in favour of the current commissioner for Lands, and Water Resources, Umoh Bassey Eno.

At a meeting of stakeholders of the PDP at Government House, Uyo , former Governor Victor Attah presented the 57 year old as the preferred successor to stakeholders for endorsement.

Eno thanked God and Governor Udom Emmanuel for finding him worthy to serve the people of Akwa Ibom state and promised to continue what he described as the life changing projects of Governor Emmanuel.

Umo Eno is a pastor and founder of All Nations Christian Ministry International based in Eket LGA and owns a chain of hospitality businesses under the Royalty Group .

He was appointed as Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources in August 2020 and hails from Ikot Ekpeno Udo in Nsit Ubium LGA of Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District otherwise know as Uyo Senatorial District.

The endorsement of Eno has not gone down well with some aspirants who have vowed to go ahead with their intentions.

Onofiok Luke, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party who is a contender for the coveted seat and Member Representing Etinan/ Nsit Ubium/ Nsit Ibom Federal Constituency says his ambition is still on course.

Onofiok Luke who hails from the same Local Government Area with Eno says he knew about the arrangement to endorse the preferred aspirant for the first time at a meeting convened by the Governor on Sunday.

A statement issued by Onofiok Luke urged his supporters and those sympathetic to his cause to continue with their activities as he is undeterred in his effort to give the people purposeful leadership in the office of the Governor come 2023.
