After several weeks of speculation and rumours regarding the story of the next political move of Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, he has this Tuesday, finally confirmed that he is moving from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC at the center.

Umahi made public his position at a parley with journalists in Abakaliki, the State capital to clear the air over the defection issue that has generated public discussion in recent times.

The Governor says his decision to join the APC is not borne out of selfish interest but is his way of protesting against the injustice being done to the southeast zone by the PDP.

Umahi believes that his movement would cause PDP to understand that no man is an island.

Governor Umahi describes as mischievous the reports in some quarters that he was quitting the PDP on which platform he became a State Acting Chairman, substantive Chairman, and a two-term Governor of Ebonyi State because the Party has refused him the 2023 Presidential ticket.

The Chairman of southeast Governors Forum, says he is already contented with his political journey so far and would wish to return to his business at the end of his tenure as Governor of Ebonyi State.
