A total of 66 traditional rulers elected by their respective communities in Imo State have officially been presented with their Staff of Office by Governor Hope Uzodimma.
At a ceremony on Saturday, the Governor urged them to promote peace and security within their communities and support government initiatives on infrastructure development.
The event held at the Sam Mbakwe Expanded Executive Chamber in Owerri, Governor Uzodimma stressed the significance of upholding cultural values and traditions of the people, reminding the new monarchs of their roles as custodians of culture and representatives of the State at the community level.

He emphasized the responsibility placed on them to foster unity, peace, and security in their domains, while also cautioning them against ruling from outside their communities.
The new traditional rulers expressed gratitude to the Governor and pledged to ensure peace and stability in their respective communities.
The initiative of strengthening the place of traditional institutions in Imo State is part of the government’s broader efforts at enhancing effective grassroots leadership in the State.
