Persons in positions of authority have been asked to be self-disciplined and alive to their responsibilities.

The Parish Priest of Christ the King Catholic Church, Okene, Reverend Father Ezekiel Awolumate, gave the advice in a homily during a mass attended by Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.

Governor Bello who was in Okene to celebrate with his kinsmen over his victory at the Supreme Court, had on Friday attended the Jumat prayers at the Okene Central Mosque after a jubilant crowd welcomed him to his ancestral land.

On Sunday, Bello led top government functionaries and supporters to Christ the King Catholic Church Okene for the same purpose.

The governor called for understanding and patience, promising that his administration would record more positive achievements before the end of his second tenure in office.

The homilist at the Mass described the burden of leadership as difficult but called on persons given the opportunity to lead, to be alive to their responsibilities.

With the joy of the Supreme Court judgment, affirming Governor Bello’s reelection still in the air, his supporters had a lot of positive things to say about the significance of last Monday’s court verdict and why their man deserved nothing less.

One refreshing dimension to this, is to see a devout Muslim in Church with his Christian brothers and sisters – something, persons from within and outside Kogi state should take a cue from.
