The tourism and aviation economy of Cross River State has received a major boost with the acquisition and delivery of two Boeing 737 five hundred series aircraft by the state government.

Governor Ben Ayade, who received the aircraft at the Muritala Muhammed Airport Lagos, Tuesday Night amidst funfair, said the asset will not only boost the traffic routes in Nigeria to Calabar but will change the economic fortunes of Cross River State.

Represented by the Commissioner for Finance, Asuquo Ekpeyong junior, Ayade explained that his government’s dream to make Calabar the tourism destination in the country is beginning to take shape.

He called on the people of Cross River State to watch and see the remaining period of his administration which he described as an “Harvest Time”.

Other top government officials who were present at the brief reception on the tarmac, described the Boeing 737 aircrafts as the pride of Cross River State

Callyair’s dream was conceived by Governor Ayade in 2016 as part of his industrialization agenda to export finished goods and other raw materials from Cross River State to the regional markets of Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea as well as Sàotome and Principe on one hand and other foreign countries on the other hand.
