Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has directed the State Environmental Protection Agency to conduct environmental scanning across the state, to help mitigate the various environmental challenges and degregation.
The Governor gave the directive during the commissioning of an Enviromental Scientific Laboratory, at the Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency, BASEPA.
Bauchi State is among the states in Nigeria with many environmental degradation challenges.
Many of them are due to illegal felling of trees, indiscriminate dumping of refuse and building on water ways, among others.

The state’s Environmental Protection And Sanitation Agency, BASEPA, in a bid to mitigate the effects of the various environmental challenges, has therefore constructed a scientific laboratory for waste recycle management and soil test to further save the state from environmental challenges.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed said, with the laboratory, the state will be able to conduct other environmental research, to avert environmental disasters.
Since the state is rated the most clean state in the North east, the governor promised to carry out anti-mosquito fumigation, to curtail the spread of malaria parasites and other diseases.
