Governor directs all banks, businesses to continue accepting old Naira notes in Katsina State

Katsina Governor, Aminu Masari has directed all banks and the business community in the State to continue to accept old Naira notes of 200, 500 and 1,000 denominations in all transactions.

The Governor in a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Home Affairs, Yahaya Sirika explained that, the directive is as a result of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami respecting the Supreme Court judgement on the new Naira notes to wait until February 15, 2023 to determine the continued or otherwise usage of the old currency.

Masari, further directed all the banks and the Business Community in the State to respect the rule of law and continue to accept all transactions involving the old notes.

The Governor therefore urged all and sundry to abide by the directive to ensure peace, harmony and tranquility in the State.
