Governor Diri tells opponents to allow him settle down after Appeal Court judgement

Bayelsa Governor, Douye Diri says it was time for those fanning the embers of disunity under the disguise of political parties in the State to sheath their swords and allow his government to settle down to the business of developing the State.

Governor Diri also stressed that the doors of the government are still wide open for all, irrespective of political divides to contribute to the growth of Bayelsa State.

Diri spoke to journalists in Government House, Yenagoa, while reacting to the Appeal Court judgment this Friday that reaffirmed his position as the duly elected Governor of the State.

While commending the judiciary and judges for upholding the law, Diri also acknowledged the supremacy of God on his emergence as the Governor, reaffirming that power can only come from Almighty God.

Governor Douye Diri had approached the appellate court to appeal the decision of the Bayelsa State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal that had in August this year nullified his election, ordering for a fresh poll.

The decision of the Tribunal followed the petition filed by the Advanced Nigeria Democratic Party, ANDP, and its governorship candidate over alleged exclusion from the ballot by INEC in the November 16, 2019, Bayelsa State Governorship election.
