The Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has begun the new year on an administrative note with the swearing-in of five Special Advisers.
The ceremony, held at Government House, Port Harcourt, signals the Governor’s resolve to reinforce his leadership team and sustain the drive for effective governance in the state as 2026 begins.

It comes just three days after the governor carried out a minor cabinet reshuffle that saw the redeployment of the Commissioner for Sports, Christopher Green, to the Ministry of Justice as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, while also coordinating the activities of the sports ministry.

Some of those being sworn in today are not new faces.
Three of them have previously served under the Fubara administration.

Professor Peter Medee served as Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Eloka Tasie-Amadi served as the Commissioner for Works, and Emmanuel Fubara served as the Commissioner for Finance.

The three of them were affected by the Supreme Court judgment, which recognised Martin Amaewhule as the authentic Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Governor Fubara, wants the Special Advisers to see their appointments as a call to selfless service, urging them to discharge their duties with diligence, integrity, and unwavering loyalty to the people of Rivers State.

The swearing-in ceremony formally sets the pace for governance in Rivers State in 2026, as the Fubara administration moves into the new year with renewed energy and focus.
