Religious leaders in the country have been called upon to always use their separate weekly sermons to unite the people rather than for divisive purposes.

The call was made by Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina state during a 2-day security awareness seminar for juma’at mosque imams and other Islamic religious leaders in Katsina state.

The seminar for both the juma’at mosque imams and other Islamic leaders is a continuation of the state government’s efforts towards finding lasting solution to the issue of banditry ravaging the state.

Governor Masari added that, the issue of banditry and other related crimes in the state is due to ignorance and illiteracy on the part of the people which can only be remedied through the religious leaders and clerics.
