Governor Okowa restates commitment to improving education sector

Delta state governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa says Education as a critical tool in reshaping society will always receive his support and attention whenever he stands the chance to contribute his quota in the state and beyond.

Governor Okowa who reinstated his administration’s commitment towards education at the maiden Graduation Ceremony of Naval Institute (Admiralty University of Nigeria) Ibusa in Oshimili North Council Area of Delta state said beyond the previous assistance to the institution, his government has started the process of fulfilling his promise of building blocks of hostels in the University.

Governor Okowa represented by the Secretary to the state government Patrick Ukah expressed his happiness that Delta state has in its stead Admiralty University that exists peacefully with its host community producing its first graduands while a bill to make it to be at par with other federal institutions, Chairman House Committee on navy said have reached an advanced stage.

Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Awwal GAMBO who doubles as the Chancellor of the Admiralty University said 80% of the graduands were delegates from the federal government Amnesty program who stand the chance for automatic employment into the military

Awwal speaking “on the importance of education to national development: its relationships with unemployment and insecurity,” said for Africa and indeed Nigeria to be great, more attention should be given to education, particularly at the tertiary levels.

Earlier Vice-Chancellor Prof Paul Omaji said a total of one hundred and fifty-three students made up the maiden Graduation set in Forensic Science, Cyber Security, Art and Social Science.
