Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has deployed a team of engineers and surveyors to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the deteriorated sections of the Auchi-Igarra-Ibillo Federal Road. The road, which has become a danger to motorists and a barrier to the productivity of local farmers, has long been a source of concern for residents.
This action follows a recent protest by youths in Akoko Edo Local Government Area, who took to the streets to draw the government’s attention to the poor state of the road.
The Auchi-Igarra-Ibillo Road is a critical route connecting several communities within Akoko Edo and beyond, serving as a link between Edo, Kogi, and Ondo States. However, it has also become a hotspot for kidnappings due to its poor condition.
Farmers, who rely heavily on the road to transport their produce, say its degradation has negatively impacted their livelihood and access to markets.
