Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has said the efforts of the Senate to amend the Constitution are apt and necessary, especially this period of rising agitation in the country.
Governor Uzodimma, while declaring the public hearing open enjoined the people of the southeast to take full advantage of the event to articulate their agitations and address all inequalities seen in the 1999 Constitution.
According to Uzodimma Igbos are better off being part of a united Nigeria.

He called for a Nigeria built on equity and fairness and urged the youth to listen to the voice of reasoning and be part of a united Nigeria
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu said the lawmakers will do everything possible to aggregate all opinions and come up with good recommendations.
This public hearing is put together for stakeholders from Imo and Abia and is expected to be for 2 days.
