With Nigeria experiencing the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, Governor Hope Uzodinma has ordered the closure of the Imo State Secretariat with effect from Monday, December 21, 2020.
This is part of measures aimed at checking the spread of the pandemic which has been identified to have a new variant of the virus.
Uzodinma in a statewide broadcast on Sunday outlined the dangers of the fresh spike of Covid-19 pandemic, directing that all government workers except permanent secretaries and political appointees to stay away from the office till further notice.
The Governor said the wearing of face masks has become compulsory for everybody resident in Imo State as mobile courts have been directed to arrest and prosecute those found without masks.

The Governor also directed that no social gathering this Christmas should have more than 100 persons in attendance, warning that social distancing and all the Covid-19 safety protocols must be observed.
