Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commended the progress and quality of work on the Kano axis of the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano federal highway, expressing appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for remobilizing contractors to site and ensuring the project moves forward.
Governor Yusuf, who paid an unscheduled inspection visit to the construction site along Zaria Road in Kano, noted that the road, when completed, will play a critical role in boosting economic activities not only in Kano State but also for businesses and commuters across Nigeria who rely on the corridor.
The Abuja–Kaduna–Kano highway project, originally awarded by previous administrations, had suffered years of delay and abandonment. However, the project is now gaining momentum following the remobilization of contractors by the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Over the past two months, construction activities have intensified on the Kano section of the road, resulting in noticeable progress along the busy corridor.
Governor Abba Yusuf visited the site to assess the pace of work and expressed satisfaction with the level of commitment shown by the contractors.
Governor Yusuf also commended the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, for his insistence on quality delivery and strict supervision of the project. He emphasized that the completion of the road will significantly enhance transportation, trade, and socio-economic interactions along the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano corridor.
Earlier in the week, the governor also expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for approving the construction of another major federal road project linking Kano, Jigawa, and Katsina States, valued at over three hundred billion naira.
The governor described the development as a major boost to regional connectivity and economic growth in
Northern Nigeria.
