The Kano State Government has cautioned supporters of Governor Abba Yusuf to desist from verbal attacks and comments that could tarnish the image of former governor and senator, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, following recent political shifts in the state.

Political tensions have simmered in Kano since Governor Abba Yusuf’s defection to the All Progressives Congress, a move that has unsettled many within the New Nigeria People’s Party and sparked intense reactions across party lines.

The development has fueled heated debates online, with opposing camps exchanging accusations and personal insults as emotions run high.

Responding to the situation, the Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Waiya, urged restraint among the governor’s supporters, stressing that political disagreements should not descend into personal attacks. He described Senator Kwankwaso as a statesman whose years of public service and political influence command respect.

Waiya noted that despite the current differences, Governor Abba Yusuf continues to acknowledge Kwankwaso as his political mentor and a father figure, emphasizing that his role in shaping the governor’s political journey remains undeniable.

The commissioner warned that anyone found flouting the directive against inflammatory remarks would face sanctions, while appealing to residents to remain calm and law-abiding.

He added that the administration remains focused on governance priorities, including social development, infrastructure delivery, and economic growth, expressing confidence that sustained attention to these areas will help douse tensions and foster unity across Kano State.
