Contrary to reports of breach of peace across some local government areas in Edo North, particularly Akoko Edo, the governorship election has been peaceful and devoid of any ugly incident.
AIT’s Ogie Ihimhekpen who monitored the election in the local government area, including Owan West and Owan East reports that the atmosphere in Edo North Senatorial District in the build up to the governorship election had been tense.
Akoko Edo Local government area is one of the local government areas in the senatorial district. But contrary to expectations, the exercise turned out to be peaceful.

Those who came out to vote said the election was generally peaceful in Akoko Edo, Owan West and Owan East Local government areas.
There was however low turn out in some polling units which residents attributed to high cost of transportation and the bad condition of the road leading to the area.
