Former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, has commended the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in tackling Nigeria’s economic and security challenges.
Gowon made the remarks on Saturday while speaking with journalists after a meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to the former military leader, his visit was to appreciate the steps being taken by the administration to move the country forward.
He noted that Nigeria is already witnessing signs of economic progress under the current leadership, adding that the President is working across political, economic and social sectors to strengthen the nation.

Gowon said he could not single out any specific area for improvement, explaining that the government appears to be making efforts on multiple fronts to address the country’s challenges.
He, however, acknowledged that security remains a major concern but expressed confidence that the administration is taking necessary measures to improve the situation.
The elder statesman added that the government’s approach to security challenges is aimed at ensuring lasting peace and stability for the country.
