Insecurity in Bwari Area Council is raising its ugly heads again as Gunmen invaded Paiko, a remote community in the Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory with over thirteen persons reportedly kidnapped.

The community leader of Paiko, John Jatau who spoke to AIT’s HAS AKODIH in a telephone conversation said the deadly operation which occurred last week in the community, lasted for over one hour, without any challenge from either the vigilante group or other security agencies.

The Maidakin of the community, John Jatau also confirmed to AIT that 10 residents were kidnapped from his domain, in addition to the 4 Nomadic Fulani Herdsmen taken from the community.

The Maidakin said the kidnappers are demanding N900 million Naira as ransom for the victims in their custody.

The Maidakin also said the kidnappers raided the village for about one hour without any response, or reaction from the community or outsiders following the total absence of Telecommunication Network in the village, giving the invaders the opportunity to pick people from house to house in the community.

Till now, no official statement from the FCT Police Command on the incident.

The FCT Police Command Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh is yet to respond to calls and text messages put across to her telephone lines.

Cases of kidnapping seemed to have ceased in Abuja over the past few months but with this recent incident, the security authorities are expected to step up their games.
