Unknown gunmen have attacked a police station in Ipele community, in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, South-West Nigeria.
The incident occurred a few minutes before the New Year celebrations, throwing the community into tension.
It was gathered that the assailants also set the police station ablaze before fleeing the scene.

Confirming the development, spokesperson of the state police command , Abayomi Jimoh, said details of the incident were still sketchy as investigations were ongoing.
The command also debunked reports circulating on social media that a religious centre was attacked, stressing that no place of worship was involved in the incident.
